Kokoda track

The Kokoda Track or trail is a single-file foot thoroughfare that runs 96 kilometres overland through the Owen Stanley Range in Papau New Guinea. The track crosses rugged and isolated terrain which is only passable on foot to the village of Kokoda in Oro Province. Hot, humid days with intensively cold nights and torrential rainfall make it a challenge to walk. The trek takes 4-12 days depending on fitness.

general information

If you have ever wondered what life was like in Gondwanaland then go to Papau New Guinea. This country may not be as developed for travellers as other parts of Asia but this makes the journey more unique and adventurous. Explore extraordinary fauna and flora in isolated jungles and mountain ranges. Step back in time and experience the culture of traditional hill tribes and the undeveloped D'Entrecasteaux islands. Other places to check out are the capital Port Moresby Central, Oro and Milne Bay (which has great reefs)
